We teach private lessons, ensembles, classes, and seminars to over 400 students per year, of all ages. PCM is the largest music school in Southern Maine with a faculty of more than 30 gifted teachers. Our quality programs enable PCM to be a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.

Group and Private Lessons

Great teachers are the reason why PCM is Southern Maine's largest private music school. Individually-designed music lessons are available for beginners or experienced musicians of all ages. Although PCM is a semester-based school, you can register for private lessons at any time. We make an effort to accomodate your schedule.

PCM offers instruction on any instrument, and our faculty is made up of 30 of the most gifted teachers in Maine. Click here to see a list of our faculty.

Classes & Ensembles
In addition to private lessons, PCM also offers engaging music classes and ensembles for adults and children. More information is available on our registration page.

Summer Camps
The Portland Conservatory offers a variety of music camps every summer, with individual camps for Jazz, Rock composition, bassoon and reed making, and instrument making. View the complete 2009 schedule.

    A Fiddler's Touch

    Ed Pearlman and Highland Soles
    On Sat Jan 16, at 7:30pm in Memorial Hall, PCM presents the 3d annual concert by fiddler Ed Pearlman and his family band Highland Soles. Ed taught for 6 years at the Conservatory; he has performed and taught throughout the USA, and in Canada and Scotland. The program will focus on world music from Gaelic Scotland and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, including dancing by Laura Scott (a "showstopper" -- Boston Globe).

    Admission: $12/$8 seniors & students/$6 PCM students.
